Preparing for Surgery

Take the time to get yourself prepared for surgery. In addition to getting yourself medically ready, also take some time to take care of things at home. Ask family or friends to be ready to help out as needed. Pick out some movies, magazines, or books—whatever it is that helps you to relax and take it slow for a day or two.

The better your health going into surgery, the faster your recovery. If you smoke, quit smoking well in advance of your surgery date. Exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet.
